Creating and Facilitating Inclusive Meetings and Events

This 1-hour workshop focuses on strategies and best practices for creating meetings that are accessible and inclusive for all participants. Learn how to facilitate discussions that engage diverse perspectives, accommodate various needs, and promote an environment of respect and collaboration. Participants will explore tools for addressing barriers, ensuring clear communication, and fostering an atmosphere where everyone feels heard and valued. By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped to lead more inclusive, productive meetings that benefit your team and organization as a whole.

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Clearly explain why inclusive meetings and events are essential to participation and equity
  • Identify and assess different event types and their accessibility needs
  • Consistently apply best practices before, during, and after meetings and events
  • Effectively plan for and respond to accommodation requests
  • Select and use tools and resources to support accessible, inclusive experiences

Robin Tasca

Robin Tasca (she/her) is a deaf professional and bilateral cochlear implant wearer with over 25 years of experience in marketing communications, event management, and digital strategy. As Communications Specialist at iSPARC within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School, Robin manages multiple websites and leads digital knowledge translation initiatives to make mental health research accessible to all audiences. She specializes in knowledge translation and advancing accessibility in her work.
